About CFA

We are an anti-racism, social justice union of 29,000 professors, lecturers, librarians, counselors, and coaches across the California State University system. We work to protect safe working and learning places, expand access to public education, improve CSU funding, increase mental health counseling, lower class sizes, and diversify faculty.

CSU faculty organized CFA in 1983 to give faculty the power to bargain a fair contract, protect our rights, and ensure our role in shared governance.

Shared governance and better academic policies mean CFA members work alongside the CSU Academic Senates, and we advocate for legislation and funding essential to our CSU.
